Nona Hendryx Opens the PS Women’s Jazz Festival

The Palm Springs Women’s Jazz Festival presents two new Jazz at Sundown concerts, beginning December 1 with the electrifying Nona Hendrix at the Indian Wells Theater in Palm Desert. Hendryx is probably still best known as a member of LaBelle, the popular R&B group of the 70’s and 80’s headed by the legendary Patti LaBelle. However, since then she has made her mark as a dynamic high-energy entertainer across all musical genres from R&B to Pop and Jazz. In recent years she has been on the music scene touring with jazz royalty, multi Grammy-winning drummer, Terri Lyne Carrington.

Hendryx kicks off the Holiday Season with a group of stellar female musicians led by popular jazz pianist, Sunny Paxson and including renowned blues guitarist Kat Dyson. Hendryx fans can expect an evening of both the new and old with material from her recent albums and, of course, favorites from her days with LaBelle.

Jazz at Sundown will return February 24, 2019 with a concert at a private residence featuring the recipient of the Palm Springs Women’s Jazz Festival Jazz Master Award, jazz icon Barbara Morrison, who has spent decades bringing jazz at its best to Southern California audiences.
