What was hot yesterday,\nmight kill you today. Not so long ago, everyone was pushing ORGANIC. What was\nsupposingly better for you, could kill your bank account. Then came SUPERFOODS\nand KALE, the new end all, be all. Kale Cesar Salads, kale chips, kale lasagna,\nkale smoothies, and kale pesto are just a few kale concoctions that were the\ncraze. Fast forward, it\u2019s as if the culinary world was on a mad treasure hunt\nfor finding the most under used, bland, non-discript vegetable we could be\nfound\u2026. Spotlight &#8211; \u2018CAULIFLOWER\u2019. What was once counted among the left-over\nsad veggies on the crudit\u00e9s platter, has now become the DIVA of the garden,\nwith celebrities and chefs applauding its versitability and nutritious\nbenefits. I recall surprising guest by substituting mashed garlic cauliflower\nfor mashed garlic potatoes for many a Thanksgiving Dinner, now seem so pass\u00e9\nwith the introduction of cauliflower rice, cauliflower steaks and get this,\ncauliflower pizza crust wowing the tastebuds of unsuspecting dinner guest.\nToday\u2019s trend less subtle, went right for the jugular; Plant-based Proteins! No\nsneaky introductions it went full-out commercial, the no-meat \u2018Whooper\u2019. If you\nhaven\u2019t tasted it yet , you certainly have seen the ads for it and the\nplant-based breakfast sandwiches. When we think about it, there really should\nbe no surprise, our diets in resent years have been plant focus with gluten,\npeanuts and sugar being major concerns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enter \u2018Flour\nPower\u2019 with flavor profiles ranging from almond, spelt, buckwheat, oat and rice\nto soy, chickpea, cauliflower and potato. I will admit, the flour profiles can\nbe fun if you enjoy baking and have a whim for trying new flavor combinations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nsugar\/sweeteners trend is and has always been geared toward natural; raw Honey,\nStevia, Dates, Coconut Sugar, Monk Sugar, Banana Pur\u00e9e and Yacon Syrup lead the\npack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other trends\nare Healthy Food Bowls with a focus on noodles &amp; veggies with a sweet chili\nflavor profile. Healthy Kid Meals and Eco-friendly Packing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The old but\nnew hot trend is Intermittent Fasting and DASH diet. Both focus more on eating\nmore fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, nuts, good oils and regulating\nsugar, salt intake and time of day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My top two\ntrends are Oat Milk and the Classic Cocktails with a new twist craze!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knowing me,\nit\u2019s no wonder both are liquid forms LOL. In this fast pace world I\u2019m a sucker\nfor a great protein drink and oat milk offers a delicious nutrition heart\nhealthy base.
